Thank you for your interest in my sewing classes! I wanted to take a minute to answer some frequently asked questions and share some of my class policies/procedures. Most of your questions are probably answered below, but if you have a question that I’ve missed, please feel free to ask!
Where are you located?
I am located in Jurupa Valley. I do not post my address (for safety reasons) but will send you that information once you are signed up.
What is your age requirement to start?
Students must be 8 or up to join sewing machine classes, or 6+ for hand stitching classes. I have let younger students in group classes before, but I have found that it’s extremely difficult in a class setting. 100% of the time, students any younger than 8 (and even sometimes at 8) need a lot of one-on-one help, which is difficult with multiple students. There are also a lot of fine motor skills involved in sewing, as well at hot irons and sharp pins and scissors that oftentimes younger kids struggle with. They will do better if you wait until 8! With that said, I will work with students in private lessons as young as 7 (since I’m able to give them more one-on-one attention).
What supplies does my student need? Do they need their own machine?
Students need to provide their own sewing machine and sewing supplies (see my sewing supply page for more info). Each class description will tell you if materials are provided or if you need to provide your own.
What is your payment policy? **UPDATED INFORMATION**
All payments for classes are now due within 48 hours of registration. Please do NOT use the payment link on the website. Send payment through cash, venmo, zelle, or purchase order (for homeschool students). When you register online, please select the “pay cash” option. You can text/email me for my venmo/zelle information.
Cancellations **UPDATED INFORMATION**
Classes that are cancelled less than 24 hours before class are not eligible for a refund. You will receive a kit for the project upon request, but no refund. If you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, I will issue a refund.
With that said, please be considerate about cancellations. I understand things come up, but please also understand that I am running a business and when you sign up for a class, it takes that spot away from another student. I spend time and money purchasing and preparing materials for projects, and often times classes fill up and students who would’ve liked to have signed up cannot get in. As you can understand, last minute cancellations hurt my business.
How do payments work with charter purchase orders?
Put in the purchase order immediately after registering for the class. If it takes longer than 24 hours to be approved, send me a screenshot that you have sent in the order.

What happens if we can’t make a class during the semester?
Unfortunately, I’m not able to offer every student who misses class a make-up session. Imagine a class with 6 students and each one misses one 2 hour class per semester (which usually does happen!) That is 12 hours of free make-up time that I have to fit in! Multiply that by the number of classes I hold and as you can see, it is impossible to accommodate every missed class. If I am able to, I may offer a time where students can sit in on another class to make up time, but that only works if I have classes that aren’t full. I will do my best to get students caught up and, if necessary, send them home with “homework” to catch up.
All that to say, please DO NOT come to class if you aren’t feeling well! You don’t have to stay home for every sniffle, but please DO NOT come to class with a fever or a persistent cough/sneezing/runny nose, and obviously throwing up. I (and other students) have gotten sick from sick kids coming to class 🙁 I will be calling parents to pick up their child if they are sent to class sick. We don’t want to spread sickness (I feel like this is a no-brainer, but it needs to be said!)
Should I drop off my student or stay?
I prefer for you to drop your student off and leave but I do understand that some people travel far, so if that is the case and you prefer to stay during class, you may sit on my sofa and wait 🙂
There are also several shops, libraries, and parks nearby 🙂
Do you offer private lessons?
When my schedule allows it, I may have limited for slots for private lessons. Right now, most of my private lessons are scheduled on Tuesdays. I highly encourage signing up for classes when possible!!
Would you offer classes in my home?
I no longer offer any classes/lessons in student’s homes.
Other information you might find helpful:
- Class sizes are limited to 6 and are first come, first served. Because space is limited, please don’t sign up unless you are sure you want to take the class! This takes away a slot that could go to someone else.
- I have been fingerprinted and background checked. During my day classes, I’m usually the only one home. After school/weekend/evenings means I may have kids and a husband home (they usually stay away 😉 Students are only permitted in the front room of my house (which is a wide open space upon entry into my house) and the bathroom. They will not be allowed anywhere else in the house. ***COMING SOON: MY VERY OWN SEWING CLASSROOM BUILT ONTO THE BACK OF MY HOUSE!!!***
- If you have a group of [3-6] kids wanting to take a class, let me know and we can set something up outside of the class times on my calendar.
- I run public social media pages and like to post pictures of class. However, I will not post your child if you aren’t comfortable with it! I have a photography disclosure form (which you can access HERE). Please print it out, sign it and give it to me the first day of class 🙂 If you do not have access to a printer (or forget the form), you can fill it out when you arrive.
