Description

This is a two-week class for kids who are wanting to increase their knowledge of sewing and learn how to read patterns. This class should follow after sewing basics, or equivalent experience (knowing how to use your sewing machine, sew seams, etc).

In this class, I will teach sewing terminology, how to measure properly and find the right pattern size, how to select the right fabrics and yardage for patterns, and more. To practice these new skills, students will be sewing their own pajama pants! They will leave this class feeling a lot more confident about reading and understanding sewing patterns!

Fabric and Pattern:

I will provide flannel fabric for students. However, they are more than welcome to purchase their own fabric if they have specific fabric they want to use. While I do have fabrics available, they are limited to my small stock 😉 If they want to purchase their own material, I would recommend Hobby Lobby for flannel. Sometimes Walmart or Michaels carry flannel, but they seem to be hit or miss. If you plan to purchase your own, make sure to get 2 1/2 yards for kids sizes, or 3 yards for teen/adult sizes and prewash fabric before class!! (You want the fabric to shrink before you make your pants, not after).

As for the pattern, I do have the pattern, but if they want their own, these are the patterns I use:
