Description
This is a three-week class for adults who are wanting to increase their knowledge of sewing and learn how to read patterns. This class should follow after sewing basics, or equivalent experience (knowing how to use your sewing machine, sew seams, etc). I highly recommend taking my pillowcase class before taking this class, though it’s not mandatory.
In this class, I will teach you sewing terminology, how to measure properly and find your pattern size, how to select the right fabrics and yardage for patterns, and more. To practice these new skills you will be learning, you will be sewing your own pajama pants! You will leave this class feeling a lot more confident about reading and understanding sewing patterns!
Fabric and Pattern:
Students need to provide their own pattern and fabric for this class and come with that fabric to the first class. I recommend purchasing flannel fabric, which you can find at Hobby Lobby, Walmart and *maybe* Michaels. On the end of the fabric bolt, it will tell you what kind of fabric it is. Make sure you choose flannel, 100% cotton. I recommend purchasing 3 yards (maybe 3 1/2 if you are a plus size). You are always welcome to text me if you have any questions about this. You should pre-wash and pre-dry your fabric, to get rid of any shrinkage before you sew your pants!!!
As for the pattern, you should be able to find it at Hobby Lobby or Walmart. If all else fails, you can order it online. This is the pattern I recommend (it’s the same pattern; they just change the picture and put a new number on it):
*If you have trouble finding the pattern, please let me know! I do have this pattern, but I don’t have enough copies for everyone in class, so it will slow us down to have to share, which is why I suggest purchasing it!
